Ah...doesn't the name alone tell you that romance is in the air? What kind of sweet vision does it bring to you? Moonlight and Magnolias is the annual conference of the Georgia Romance Writers, a chapter of Romance Writers of America. Workshops, agent/editor meetings,and fabulous speakers help make up the event, all leading to the dinner and dance where the prestigious Maggie Award for Excellence is presented to both published and unpublished authors in numerous romance categories. This year's theme was Mardi Gras Masquerade!
I first attended Moonlight and Magnolias about 10 years ago when my now late husband, John, sent me to the conference as a birthday gift. Wide-eyed and slack-jawed, I attended as an "aspiring writer." This year, I got to go as a "published author"!
I had an amazing time participating in the Book Fair and Author Signing for Literacy where I was blessed to share a table with Cindy Nord, the bestselling author of Historical/Civil War romance. Getting to hang out with this fun and inspiring lady was a highlight of my weekend!
The bookseller for this event was the Book Exchange of Marietta, Georgia, a bookstore-you'll-never-want-to-leave owned by Jennifer Ingram Gillman. Jennifer was the first independent bookseller to host a book signing for me, so she'll always have a special place in my heart.
